Genesis Change Process

Genesis Change Process

The Genesis Change Process at Broadway Church is for anyone who feels stuck in self-destructive thoughts, feelings, or behaviors and genuinely desires change. Genesis integrates biblical principles with insights from neuroscience using a social model to support lasting change.

The Genesis Process recognizes that behavior is an expression of our thoughts and beliefs. Therefore, while addressing destructive behaviors, Genesis also focuses on deep personal transformation. It helps hurting people answer the question, “Why do I do the things I don’t want to do?”

This process is designed to be experienced within the support of a group. God uses others to provide insight, accountability, and encouragement as we face the issues that must be resolved for lasting change.  Personal change on our own is often limited because we are unaware of our own self-destructive behaviors.

The program consists of weekly meetings and homework.  The meetings include both large-group and gender-specific, small-group sessions. To complete the program, participants will need to do homework through two Genesis workbooks. Each workbook includes 11–12 weekly sessions. The homework involves self-discovery exercises and weekly goal-setting.

Genesis facilitators are volunteers who have personally experienced freedom from self-destructive behaviors. They are trained to guide and support participants through each step of the Genesis workbook while providing a safe environment. Facilitators help participants gain the knowledge, tools, and guidance necessary for meaningful and lasting change.

Genesis One-on-One sessions are available on a limited basis for those who need additional coaching after completing the program or for those who are not able to join the Group sessions.
