Serge and Nancy Bersaglio

Their story

Serving around the world

Serge and Nancy Bersaglio bring lasting hope to Villages of Hope Africa (VOH) children by providing them with holistic (emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual) loving care.

In sub-Saharan Africa, millions of children have no access to education, or their parents don’t have the means to send them to school. Without proper education and essentials like nutrition and healthcare, little hope exists for many children in this region of the world.

In 1999, Serge and Nancy helped start VOH, which at that time was only a preschool, with 43 children enrolled. Today, this ministry has grown to over 7,200 students annually with centres in Burundi, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Each centre operates a school, often the very heart of the community.

As Executive Directors of VOH, their primary focus is to lead, guide, and mentor the seven incredible VOH directors and approximately 450 staff who work tirelessly to care for children coming from often very challenging situations. The Bersaglios work closely with their families, caregivers, various levels of government, community leaders, and others in their communities. Their passion is to both disciple the children to know how much Jesus loves them, and to keep them as safe as they possibly can through various safeguarding means.

Your generosity makes a difference!

Why do we partner with these Global Workers?

  • Simply because they know the needs on the ground.
  • They have been well trained, and as they work, the Holy Spirit is opening their eyes to the needs of the people there.

Our Global workers, who are our friends, give the people they meet and work with, just what they need — in many cases, even providing basic human needs.

  • We trust them as experts in their field and have seen their effectiveness.
  • They have been commissioned and sent out from our church family.
  • They have been entrusted and empowered to “Go”, and we desire to see the Lord work in mighty ways in and through them as they do His Kingdom Work!

We support our Global Workers every month through your generosity! In addition, here are some examples of projects/organizations we financially supported for in 2024.

These projects are broken down under our 2-pronged approach

Humanitarian efforts

  • Helped Camp Yukon upgrade their infrastructure
  • Assisted a village with an electricity project
  • Funded a refugee cooking business
  • Provided funds for anti human-trafficking endeavours
  • Provided mobile do-it-yourself water kits for displaced people
  • Paid for an entire year of, a school feeding program

Outreach/Spiritual needs

  • Helped fund a church plant
  • Provided Bibles
  • Assisted UCM with evangelism and outreach endeavours
  • Funded overseas pastoral training and mentoring programs

This is YOUR DOLLARS AT WORK!

Why do we do this?

  • Because we believe that every person was created to experience and express the purest love imaginable.
  • Our outreach strategy includes meeting the needs of our world in very practical ways.
Through our Global Outreach Fund, we mobilize our “why” by partnering with indigenous initiatives and university ministries in our province. Internationally, we help build schools, drill freshwater wells, and respond to humanitarian disasters. We also support the personal budgets of people who feel called across the globe to serve in their country of burden. We train and send teams to go out on short-term trips to serve and give back to communities that need ministry teams. All of this is done so that those in our world can experience the purest love imaginable.

We believe that “when you go on missions, you grow in your faith!”
